Please be aware of the fact that the electronic renewal may not be in the best interests of your national society, SDH/SEMI. The electronic renewal last year would only facilitate joining ADHO, the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations. It did not provide a mechanism for joining only SDH/SEMI. </div><div><br></div><div>This is a problem for SDH/SEMI due to the revenue sharing formula currently in place between ADHO and SDH/SEMI. Our President (English) has been working with ADHO and OUP to develop a more SDH/SEMI-friendly formula, and our President (French) will continue to press the case on our collective behalf this year. </div><div><br></div><div>Currently, if you join only SDH/SEMI, at an annual rate of $128US we get most of that back from OUP. But if you join ADHO, which includes membership in the Alliance of Literary & Linguistic Computing (ALLC) and the Association for Computing in the Humanities (ACH) for $150US, SDH/SEMI gets back well less than half of the money you pay, and well less than we would get back had you joined only SDH/SEMI. Please note that neither ALLC or ACH has a dedicated conference. The DH conferences are their only get together, and because SDH/SEMI is a member of ADHO you will get the members rate for DH without being a member of all the ADHO organizations. As you all know, SDH/SEMI does have its own conference every year, and we have those fees, translation fees, and support costs for the newly launched society journal <a href="http://www.digitalstudies.org/ojs/index.php/digital_studies">Digital

to cover every year. This year we paid a modest fee to some very talented students for a completely revised and mildly restructured website, which I hope to get installed over the Christmas break. Throughout the year we seek opportunities to help graduate students working in the digital humanities.
